This micro-credentialing program will empower you with a comprehensive understanding of neurodiversity within the aquatic environment and is ideal for swim teachers and coaches.

WHY UNDERSTANDING NEURODIVERSITY IN SWIMMING IS IMPORTANT

Every individual learns differently, and neurodivergent swimmers (including those with autism, ADHD, dyslexia, dyspraxia, and other learning differences) often have unique strengths and may require specific approaches to thrive in the aquatic environment. Traditional teaching methods may not always be the most effective for these learners.

By understanding the foundations of neurodiversity, swim teachers and coaches can adapt their communication, instruction, and class environment to better meet the needs of all students. This not only improves skill acquisition but also builds confidence, reduces anxiety, and promotes a more positive and engaging experience in the water.

Our Foundations of Neurodiversity micro-credential program will provide you with knowledge on the spectrum of neurodiversity, foundational approaches for inclusive teaching, characteristics of various neurotypes, effective class management strategies, and how to grow your impact as a neurodiversity-affirming teacher or coach.
